OLD BAGS offers site specific, multi-media installations geaturing video and sound elements. OLD BAGS exposes three facets of the female midlife experience - Invisibility, Captivity and Identity.

The video segment of OLD BAGS offers multiple images of mid-life women. Each person is stripped down to her bra and underpants and wears an identity concealing shopping bag over her head. Simultaneous with the project's visual components, middle aged women are heard speaking about their experiences of living in America and being "not-young" females. The voices bring an intimacy to the viewing of real people hidden behind the corporate logos of their shopping bags.

OLD BAGS intallation is a "gestalt piece" - an of the moment portrait of a segment of 21st century women living in our modern culture. Socially, it gives a voice to this invisible yet vital group of people. Communally, OLD BAGS will grow; encompassing photographs of more and more women, and broadening the outcome with a web presence and global community.

In the United States someone turns fifty every eight seconds, and at least half, if not more, are women. OLD BAGS gives middle aged women a place and a voice in the art world.
